{"id":1687,"date":"2015-03-03T10:21:19","date_gmt":"2015-03-03T15:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/?p=1687"},"modified":"2015-03-03T10:21:19","modified_gmt":"2015-03-03T15:21:19","slug":"white-chicken-chili","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/?p=1687","title":{"rendered":"white chicken chili"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here is the recipe for White Chicken Chili that I made for the <a href=\"http:\/\/sentonmission.com\">Watermark<\/a>\u00a02015 Soup &amp; Chili Cook Off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/white_chicken_chili.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1688 size-medium\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/white_chicken_chili-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"white_chicken_chili\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/white_chicken_chili-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/white_chicken_chili.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I started with this recipe from The Pioneer Woman:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thepioneerwoman.com\/cooking\/2010\/01\/simple-hearty-white-chili\/\">http:\/\/thepioneerwoman.com\/cooking\/2010\/01\/simple-hearty-white-chili\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I&#8217;ve made it that way before, but have since simplified it a bit, so the main modifications are below.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">I use shredded chicken breasts instead of the fryer chicken.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">I use 2 cans of Great Northern Beans, rinsed.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Because of using the canned beans instead of dry beans, I use 4 cups chicken broth (I like using Better than Bouillon chicken base) and later 1\/2 cup milk.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">I use red onion because that&#8217;s what we have on hand from the\u00a0garden.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">I did not include the jalape\u00f1o.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I\u00a0tend to just &#8220;wing it&#8221; when I cook, especially with spices and such, so I often don&#8217;t have my versions of things written down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We usually eat it with homemade bread (based on basic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artisanbreadinfive.com\">Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day<\/a> recipe) which I also brought to the cook off :<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bread.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1689 size-medium\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bread-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"bread\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bread-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.lostforest.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/bread.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I almost always just mix up enough dough for one larger loaf, so I divide the basic recipe by three (so I use 1 cup warm water, 1 tsp kosher salt, 1 tsp yeast, a little over 2 cups unbleached flour).
